NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists will host a special event in honor of World AIDS Day at 6 p.m. on December 3 at Red Bear Brewing Company, 209 M. St NE, in Washington, D.C. Please join us for an hour long panel discussion between local organizations and grassroots activists as we bring attention to the current state of the HIV epidemic. The event is free and open to the public.
Tagg Magazine Editor-in-Chief Ebone F. Bell will be the host of the evening. Panelists include Earline Budd of HIPS and Michael Beer of Nonviolence International.
The panel will cover many topics, including how local organizations have adapted to accommodate the changing demographics of those living with HIV in Washington. We hope that this dialogue will help spark necessary conversations between those who attend, share informational resources related to public health and provide story ideas to journalists wishing to cover HIV & AIDS. This year’s World AIDS Day theme is, “Ending the HIV & AIDS epidemic: Community by Community.” There will be plenty of informational materials at the brewery for your perusal, as well as resources from the CDC’s “Let’s Stop HIV Together” initiative.
